Begin at the City Market, then walk towards Korzo. The market gives a different introduction from a viewpoint: produce, conversations, working streets and the ordinary business of a port city. Follow your curiosity through the centre before choosing one substantial cultural visit. At the Sugar Palace, the City Museum occupies the former sugar-refinery headquarters at Krešimirova 28. It is a useful place to understand the industry behind the waterfront.

Give Trsat its own afternoon
Above the centre, Trsat changes the scale of the city. Visit the castle for the outlook, then allow time for the surrounding neighbourhood and shrine. The official castle information point is at Partizanski put 9A. Treat the climb as a deliberate part of your day, not a short extension of every waterfront walk. If the weather turns, return to a museum and save the view for another visit.
