Place of event: Lovran - Opatija region

This festival celebrates asparagus, a traditional local delicacy which has been praised and enjoyed by Kvarner locals for centuries. During this period, local restaurants and taverns offer variety of foods made of asparagus. The highlight of the festivities is the Asparagus Feast (Fešta od šparug) when Lovran's main square becomes huge open air kitchen, where with music and dances local chefs prepare the famous meal - fritaja, made from 1000 eggs and 30 kilos of asparagus in a 2 meter wide cooking pan. With local guides, you can take a walk into the woods and experience asparagus picking and preparation.
