After a successful international career in the engineering business, Vjekoslav embarked upon the mission of reviving old villas in Lovran while developing an exclusive concept of combining tourism and personal growth through holistic approaches.

At Villa Astra, we provide a hospitable atmosphere, so that you arrive as a guest but leave as a friend, completely relaxed, breathing freely and feeling transformed.

Our main focus is on the preservation of the cultural heritage of the region.

At the Villa Astra you will find warm, friendly and comfortable boutique accommodation in a carefully restored Venetian Gothic summerhouse, once used by Austrian Princes and Italian Nobles. Whilst getting a truly unique cultural and historic experience in this wonderful property, you are also encouraging the continued preservation of these villas by showing that the original structures still have an appreciable value. Many of the original features of the villa have been restored to their former glory including the exquisite ornamental detail of the facade and windows, as well as the Italian loggia on the upper floor.

The owner, Vjeko Martinko, was accredited with the Sustainable Development Award by the Ministry of Environment for his commitment to responsible, eco-friendly principles and innovations, guided by heritage and tradition.
