Plitvice Lakes National Park

The National Park at the Plitvice Lakes is considered to be one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in the world. It is also a beautiful example of Karst, a kind of topography that is unique to this region. The park has a string of sixteen beautiful lakes of all sizes and tarns of a crystal blue-green colour, separated by travertine barriers. They are fed by many small streams that spill into each other in foaming cascades and thundering waterfalls. Due to its unique beauty, the Plitvice Lakes was declared a World Heritage Site in 1979 by UNESCO.

The exceptional beauty of the lakes and waterfalls, rich plant and animal life, contrasting colours of the forests and the pure mountain air attract nature lovers from all over the world. There are many comfortable hotels and rustic restaurants in the area to cater to the needs of these visitors. A guided tour of the park itself lasts about two and a half hours and includes a walking tour, a short boat ride and a ride on a panoramic train.

On our way to the Plitvice Lakes we'll pass along the beautiful coastline of Kvarner Bay, after which we will ascend up the Velebit Mountain. Once we reach the summit, we'll stop for a short break so that our visitors can enjoy the magnificent panoramic view of Kvarner Bay from the top. From this point on, you'll be driving through the continental part of Croatia. Just before entering Plitvice, we'll stop for lunch (optional).

Finally, we will enter one of the most beautiful National Parks in the world. This park is included on the UNESCO list of World Nature Heritage Sites. Nature has created 16 spectacular lakes, connected by stunning waterfalls and cascades in this area. You will be able to discover this unique oasis of natural beauty, the Plitvice Lakes, by walking along the paths and wooden bridges and taking a tour on a small train and by boat. Listen to the sounds of nature, enjoy the colourful scenery of crystal blue lakes, white waterfalls and cascades, bask in the green world of flora and inhale lungfuls of fresh mountain air.
