The story of this romantic hotel starts in the 14th century, when the monastery was built at the spot of Roman fortification (hence the name Kaštel, meaning Castle) next to the old church that actually gave its name to the settlement that we now call Crikvenica (Crikva means church in Croatian). As a Pauline monastery, it was upgraded in 1650 to serve as a lodging house which makes Kaštel the first hotel of the Northern Adriatic. It also served as an orphanage, before being completely renovated in 1980 into the beautiful hotel we now call Kaštel.
Besides the air-conditioned restaurant a la carte restaurant - Stella Maris, you will find an aperitif bar and the terrace in immediate vicinity of the hotel's beach.
